About iME Valve Division

The IME Valve division supply and service manual, safety and control valves. We have a dedicated valve service facility where our experienced technicians follow a systematic process to ensure each valve meets the standards required to receive our seal of approval. All overhauls are fully documented using our bespoke live reporting software, giving you maintenance records that allow you to make informed decisions. Members of the British Valve & Actuator Association & accredited by UKAS to ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.

Dedicated Valve Facility

At IME valves we have a dedicated valve facility. This allows us to control both the speed and quality of all overhauls. Our state of the art area is equipped with filtered ventilation system to keep the environment dust free. We have a sealed sand blasting booth that allows us to clean rust, scale and detritus from valves that live in extreme environments. We have specialist tools to allow us to carry out the lapping process, ensuring a tight seal on the disc and we even have a microscope for those items that need a little extra investigation. Our machining facilities allow us to machine seats & flange faces as required. The facility has multiple calibration & testing rigs for slide valves, pressure relief valves & control valves. We use hydrogen to test to the correct set pressures before we literally adding our metal seal of approval.

valves site services

On Site Services

Our CCNSG trained valve specialist mechanical fitters work throughout the UK completing valve surveys and in situ testing/repairs. Our tools/equipment and test benches can be transported to your site, and our transport mobilises to ensure all works are completed to meet your deadlines supported by our valve facility. On completion of surveys we offer live test of boiler safety valves. All works are completed using our live reporting software, keeping you up to date with our progress in real time. We do not use subcontractors, our engineers are our own highly skilled/trained operatives, giving you a service you can truly rely on.

valves refurbishment

What does Valve refurbishment involve?

A standard valve refurbishment will be carried out by a extensively trained valve specialist mechanical fitter. Refurbishment includes:

  • Disassembly of the valve
  • Cleaning and inspecting of internals & reporting on condition
  • Lapping of the valve disc and seat to remove defects to ensure that it can seal tightly
    • The valve disc is the surface of the component that blocks the flow through it and the seat is the surface onto which the disc seal
    • Lapping involves using an abrasive paste and cloth to remove very fine amounts of material to produce a smooth surface free from irregularities
  • Replacement of the valve packing if required – deformable material that produces a seal around the stem/shaft that moves the disc
  • Replacement of gaskets as required
  • Machining flange faces as required
  • In the case of there being damage to valve internals that cannot be remedied by the methods above we stock/source spares to replace them.
  • Valve assembled, pressure tested, sprayed, tagged & certified
