Introduction

IME routine outage RVI inspections highlighted need for replacement of economiser header during outage window.

Challenge

To source grade of material and manufacture ensuring perfect alignment in extremely short window to coded procedure.

Solution

Our engineers manufactured a like for like replacement using correct specification pipework supplied by IME. All welds were completed by our coded welders to our own TIG procedure. 100% NDT weld testing was carried out on completion. Repair package supplied to our customer on completion consisting of:

IME weld procedures,
welder qualifications
consumable certification
material certification
NDT reports

Once fabrication was complete, the new header was installed by our full-time PAYE highly trained site engineers. All site welding was completed by our coded welders to our TIG procedures. Seamless install within planned timescales.

Results

No extension required to the outage window, perfect new header installed, with both the speed and the quality controlled in-house.
